Just kidding. But look! Our bedroom is coming together! I mentioned in an earlier post that we had decided to strip the paint off the pine floors, which were hidden under a very old carpet. With a lot of elbow grease and even more paint stripper, we started to see a glimmer of hope. Matt used a belt sander and a bunch of levels of grit to get it to where it is now, and then we finished it with clear varathane. The whole process was pretty labour intensive, but we’re thrilled with the rustic, rugged look to the floor. It think it looks pretty smart paired with the crisp, white-ish walls.
Otherwise, we’ve started to move in, as evidenced by the amount of things in our walk-in-closet! I really like how Matt has framed the closet; the roughly sanded 2″x4″ boards were recycled from elsewhere in the house. It’s something a little different anyway.
As for furniture, sadly that’s a ways off. I may have bitten off more than I can chew. We bought furniture, but then decided to strip the stain and sand it. The outcome isn’t even that exciting; it’s just a lot of work. You live, you learn (- Alanis Morisette)
